Bay Area Freediving_Wave 1

WAVE 1: FREEDIVER

This two-day Wave 1 course introduces the fundamentals of freediving allowing discovery of your freedive ability.  Course material is presented online, developed through classroom discussions and exercises, active skills are introduced during dry and pool sessions, and honed in the ocean water sessions.  At the end of the course, you will understand the skills, technique to reach a depth of 12–20m (40-66ft) in open water. 

You will be granted access to the exclusive freediving materials developed by the world’s leading freedivers and join the largest freedive community.  Topics covered during the course include physics, physiology, breathing, mental relaxation, equalization, equipment and safety and rescue.  After the course, you will have access to Molchanov’s Base Trainings: a weekly training regime tailored to your skill level with the goal of preparing you for the next step in your diving. 

Prerequisite(s): Ability to swim 200M non-stop

Wave 1 Course Details

WAVE 2: INTERMEDIATE FREEDIVER

This course is for the freediver wanting to dive deeper or longer.  In this class, freedivers will be taught to analyze their dives through the dive phases, stimulate focused awareness, practice different breathing techniques, develop deeper safety and equalization for depth.   

In this intermediate course, you learn how to train your body for freediving and how to hold your breath for more than two and a half minutes. Topics include pre-dive optimization, improvement of Frenzel equalization and introduction to the dolphin kick.

In the Wave 2 course, you master the skills and knowledge needed to freedive comfortably to a depth of 24-30 meters (79-99 feet) in open water.

Prerequisite(s)*:  Freedive certification from PFI, FII, or Molchanovs Wave 1

*Other certifications accepted with prior evaluation and approval from instructor.

Discover Freediving

DISCOVER FREEDIVING

Discover Freediving is for the curious adventurer who wants to know more about freediving.   This light course runs for a half-day and explains the origin and application of freediving,  its benefits, and equipment while immersing you in the local marine environment in the ocean of Monterey Bay.  The first portion is a classroom / dry session and the second half is an ocean session.
